My girlfriends and I have always wanted to try Sip and Gogh as a group activity. We’ve never had a chance to actually go, until yesterday. My best friend was in town for a couple of days so we decided to spend Saturday eating a quick breakfast and then sipping and painting away at their Podium branch.

What is Sip and Gogh?

Sip and Gogh is the first paint and sip experience in the Philippines. Basically, you get to paint your version of a popular (or not) painting and you also get to drink wine and other non-alcoholic beverages, have a light snack, and laugh with your friends. It’s a studio and a bar in one.

There are hourly classes and you can choose which artwork you’d want to paint, and there’s an instructor to guide you through the whole process.

How to register for a session

All you need to do is head on over to their website at https://www.sipandgogh.com/ to check what are the available classes and schedules. Or you may contact them directly in case you have questions and want to speak to an actual person.

How much is it?

The adult classes are at P1000 which includes a non-alcoholic drink, a snack, and all the tools you will need for your masterpiece.

What’s the experience like?

I am generally up for anything new to try (unless it’s death-defying), so I was pretty excited to try Sip and Gogh. There were just a few expectations that were not met.

For one, I think our instructor was new and it was his first time to teach a class. It could’ve gone a lot smoother if we had a more experienced teacher. He didn’t explain the process well and skipped some steps which resulted in students having to ask a lot of questions.

Second, by the time the 11 am class started (our class was at 10 am), the studio felt like being inside a kindergarten classroom at recess. It was too noisy. It would’ve been great if the classes weren’t all in one room. It takes away from the whole experience. I’m not sure if it’s the same in their other locations.

Third, when our class was over, only one person was drying the paintings using a blow dryer. We were actually the first group to queue our paintings for drying as we had appointments in the afternoon, but our works were the last to be processed. They need to have a better system.

Yay or Nay?

I’m not totally turned off by the experience, because I still did have fun. I’m going to try this again but I might go to another branch. Also, next time I might try to order a bottle of wine from the bar just to get the full experience.
