I’m always finding myself in a battle between being a photographer or just a traveler when I’m out and about and the latter seems to be winning most of the time. My laziness and sense of entitlement tell me to just kick back and enjoy a well-deserved vacay. I always tell myself I’d remember everything anyways, but unfortunately, in most cases, I don’t. So I’m always left with that feeling of regret, wishing I had taken more pictures.

One of the things I hate when traveling is having to lug around my big camera and lenses. I carry them in an additional, heavy, hand-carried bag and it takes away most of the comfort when I’m in transit. I mean, I love them to bits, but I just want to be comfortable in airports, and having to carry a heavy bag kind of just kills it for me. So, I figured, I really need to do something about it.

The best possible solution I’ve come up with was to buy a good compact camera. One that is great enough for travel blogging, vlogging, and one that is not so heavy. I’ve been looking at several Canon choices, but I stumbled upon the Fujifilm XF-1, fell in love at first sight, and the rest was history.

I’ve been looking at Fujifilm cameras and at one point have wanted to buy the XPro-1, but never really seriously considered buying since it was never in my budget. So I was really happy when I found out they had an entry-level compact digital camera in the X series, which is the XF-1.

As this is not a review, I will not go into all the technical details. But here’s what I have to say: I LOVE IT!!! Here she is. Ain’t she a beauty?

Hi, I’m Scarlett!

In the short time that it has been with me, I’ve taken a couple of pictures and they are gorgeous! I am truly amazed at how much light this teeny camera can let in.

Here are a couple of indoor pictures that I had taken using the camera. I have not edited these pictures in any way, except in-blog resizing.

Mom went fishing today and here she is showing off her catch.

And here I am, taking a selfie in the dirty kitchen.

I just have to say, we call it a dirty kitchen for a reason: IT IS DIRTY! But these pictures just highlight the lovely colors and make the place seem sorta clean. The pop of colors (okay, we love blue) is amazing!

Here are a couple more pictures. (Green-ish cast caused by the green plastic roof we have outside.)

And here’s a test on the macro:

Pants and Stitches!

I have film simulation set to Astia, Sharpness to M-Hard, and Color set to M-High, everything else is set to Standard.

I am excited to take this baby out for a photo walk! I will post more outdoor photo samples soon. 🙂
